Dr. Mark Fulk is a specialist in British Literature, Feminist, and GLBTQ Studies, as well as an Appalachian poet. Interests include British fiction before 1900, suffragism in Britain, Virginia Woolf, Stephen King, ecology and literature, philosophy and literature, travel literature, and silence and solitude in literature (contemplative literature). As a scholar, Dr. Fulk has published a book on May Sarton and articles on John Dryden, the elegy, Charlotte Smith, Jane Austen, and Philip Roth among others. Current and ongoing projects include ones on ecocriticism and the picturesque; uses of sublime landscape in reality television; and Freud's affects on recent aesthetic theories.
